GEN (Ret) TERRY DAKE

Former Assistant Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps

Raised in the Missouri Ozarks, General Terrence R. Dake attended and received undergraduate degrees from the College of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas. He holds a Master of Arts from Pepperdine University. In addition, the General is a graduate of the National Defense University and the Wharton School of Business 2001 Global Leadership Forum. He was commissioned a second lieutenant upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia, in October 1966.

After General Dake was designated a Naval Aviator in 1968, he logged more than 6,200 flight hours in military aircraft.  Significant flying tours include: a combat tour in Vietnam in 1968-69; Commanding Officer of Marine Helicopter Squadron One, designated as the President Reagan’s helicopter pilot 1983-85; and Commanding General of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing 1995-1996.  He served as the Assistant Chief of Staff of Operations, G-3, for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Desert Shield and Storm. General Dake advanced to the rank of 4 star general and assumed the position as Assistant Commandant, U.S. Marine Corps on September 5, 1998.  During his military service, he was presented with the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with gold star, in lieu of second award, the Air Medal with Combat “V” with the numeral 2 in lieu of second award and the numeral “31,” and the Navy Commendation Medal.

He retired with the rank of 4 star general after serving 34 years in the Marine Corps and became the Senior Vice President, U.S. Government & International Military Business, for Bell Helicopter Textron.  After retiring from Bell Helicopter Textron, he became a Senior Advisor to the C.E.O. of Aviall Services, Inc., in April of 2005.  He is the President of Dake Enterprises, LLC. Since 1999, he has served as a member of the College of the Ozarks Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Board since 2007.  General Dake and wife Sue have a daughter, Jana, and a son, Joshua.  General and Mrs. Dake have been blessed with five grandchildren.  They reside in Trophy Club, Texas.

ROBERT C. TAYLOR

Robert C. Taylor serves as the senior vice president, chief information officer of Fluor Corporation, with global oversight for IT enterprise operations, cyber security, project execution systems, digital transformation, data analytics, enterprise architecture and enterprise applications.

In 1986, Mr. Taylor joined Fluor Australia’s mining business and led the implementation of computer aided design. Since 1992, Mr. Taylor has held a variety of global IT leadership management positions, including director of applications management, director of IT operations and infrastructure, director of IT strategy, and technical director for Fluor’s ERP implementation. Mr. Taylor has more than 40 years’ experience in the engineering and construction industry with 34 years’ experience in computing and automation and an extensive portfolio, including talent development, leadership development, global outsourcing, procurement, ERP implementation, cybersecurity, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and organizational change management. Prior to his career at Fluor, Mr. Taylor held various structural engineering and design positions in his homeland of Australia.

KEVIN SWEENEY

retired USAF and Air National Guard pilot & CVO Emeritus

Kevin Sweeney is a retired USAF and Air National Guard pilot who attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.  He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross along with numerous other awards and decorations.  He is a veteran of both Viet Nam and Desert Storm.

In his professional business career he was an Executive for a Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 company.  In his younger days, Kevin was an all-conference athlete.  He holds two Bachelor’s degrees and a Master’s degree. Kevin was a board member & former CVO.

GEN (Ret) JOE MARTIN

Former Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army

Gen. Joseph M. Martin graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1986 and commissioned as an armor officer. He has served in a variety of troop assignments. From 1987 to 1990, he served as a tank platoon leader, scout platoon leader, and company executive officer in the 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division. Upon graduation from the Armor Officer Advanced Course, Martin was assigned to 4th Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, where he commanded Company B during Operation Desert Storm and at Fort Riley, Kansas. He then commanded the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Ba’Qubah, Iraq and at Fort Hood, Texas. Martin commanded the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley, Kansas, and deployed with that command to serve in northwest Baghdad, Iraq. Following brigade command, he became the chief of staff of III Corps in Fort Hood, Texas. From June 2012 to April 2013, Martin commanded the U.S. Army Operational Test Command. Martin served as deputy commanding general (Maneuver) for 1st Cavalry Division, commanding general of National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, and commanding general of 1st Infantry Division, where he deployed and commanded the Combined Joint Force Land Component Command in Operation Inherent Resolve. He also served as the Directory of the Army Staff. His last assignment before retiring was as the 37th Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army.

Martin’s key staff assignments have included observer controller, Fort Irwin, California, instructor/writer and aide to the commanding general at the U.S. Armor Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He also served as a battalion operations officer, aide to the III Corps commanding general and brigade operations Officer at Fort Hood, Texas. Additionally, Martin served as the armor branch chief and chief of the Maneuver, Fires and Effects Division, at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command in Alexandria, Virginia. He also served as the Initiatives Group director for the commander, U.S. Forces Iraq and U.S. Joint Forces Command.

Martin holds a master’s in education from the University of Louisville. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College.

Martin’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal with “V” device. He also earned the Combat Action Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

Martin retired on 1 October 2022 and is married and has two children, including one that is currently serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army.
